EPTG 2022 “Roots and wings” live in Sofia is a part of big traditions in the Playback Theatre world. First EPTG is in France in 2005 and the last one was in Hungary in 2017.

There it was decided Playback Theatre “Here and Now” from Bulgaria to be the next host of the event.

It was in 2017 when we started to organize this event and many people went trough Orga team, many people supported event, many people quit, new came to team.

Along with the world we went through Covid and we needed to postpone 2020 event just when registration started, program was totally ready, all contracts was signed, all venues ready and all the team perfectly prepared. We had Jonathan Fox and Kayo Munakata (Japan) confirmed in the program and they would have been live in Sofia.

We excepted the situation and we adapted.

It was in 2020 when we organize first European Playback Theatre Gathering ONLINE “Roots of Change” with 30 workshops during the day and 20 performances in the evening. 200 people all around the world came together on 5-6 September 2020 to continue the tradition and to support each other in difficult times.

In 2021 we organize pre- EPTG online conference with the co- founder Jonathan Fox “Fuzzy meaning and helicopter rides: personal story, identity and community well-being in Playback Theatre.”

So many things changed since 2017 but the one thing that was constant was one person’s devotion and will this event to happen. Supported from many people both from Bulgaria and all around the world Tzveta Baliyska- director of EPTG 2020/22 didn’t quit and now we invite you to share with us the end of this long journey.

Program

Program is spread in 4 days and it contains opening and closing ceremony, a choice of 9 home groups, 18 workshops, 9 performances, music or playback jam.

27 amazing trainers all around the world and 9 companies from 7 countries will be the heart of the event.
